Requesting Binding

After you receive a quote, you can either decline it or request that the Underwriter bind coverage for it. If your Agency/Brokerage has a Letter of Authority that allows Automated Binding, when you request binding, Geaux may automatically bind coverage.

To request that an Underwriter bind coverage for a submission:
  1. When the submission is open, click the Proposals tab. The Proposals tab appears.
  2. Double-click the proposal that includes the new quote. (The status for this proposal is Received Quote.) The Received Quote window appears.
  3. Review the quote cover letter and quote. If there are multiple options, determine which option you want to bind.
  4. If you want to bind coverage, click Request to Bind. If multiple options exist, the Choose Option to Bind window appears. Select the option you want to bind, and click OK. A confirmation window appears.

Note: When you request binding for a multi-quote proposal, you are requesting binding for all of the proposal's underlying quotes.

  5. Select any users to whom you want to send e-mail notification that you are requesting binding, and then click Yes. The proposal status becomes Bind Requested, and the Underwriter is notified that you have requested binding. The submission appears under Bind Requested/Bound on your home page. If you have automatic binding authority, the submission moves to Bound status automatically when you request binding.

Note: If your Agency/Brokerage has a Letter of Authority that allows Automated Binding, Geaux notifies you that coverage has been bound and provides the policy number for the submission.

  6. To withdraw a bind request, click Withdraw Request. The status returns to View Quote, and the Underwriter is notified that you have withdrawn the bind request.
  7. To close the Binding Requested (or Quote Received) window, click in the upper-right corner.
